About Kevin Leis.jpg

Kevin Leis

Kevin Michael Leis ( AKA The Thorn ) started his musical career in a small southern Ohio river town at the age of 16. His love of singing, performing  and writing took him to places he had only dreamed of (or seen in the magazines he poured over every month). Those dreams carried him across the country playing everything from dives, casinos, supper clubs  and event centers. Over time he has gleaned the stories and adventures of traveling as a musician, as well as a recording artist, for 40 years!

The road started with “bar fights, open mics, spandex tights and crazy nights” which led eventually to being a critically acclaimed songwriter whose songs have been heard around the globe.

Rose and the Thorn represents a new curve in the road, marrying Briggs’ old time jazz and classical styles with Kevin’s background in rock, pop, country and blues. Together they sparked the finest and most poignant songs of his career. Their songs paint a picture of what we, as humanity, can all identify with.

It’s something Kevin is truly proud of.

About Briggs Geister_singing at Piano_B&W.jpg

Briggs Geister

Briggs (aka Rose) got her start in music as a child singing songs she made up on the spot for her neighbor, and singing with her brother at the dinner table. Professionally, she began singing as an adult with an a cappella quartet that she helped form called, 4*Ever Young. During their 20 years together they sang at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, private events, and at local senior centers and nursing homes. She also recorded a solo album of Jazz standards with acclaimed musicians from the Denver area.

She sang background for several years with a local singer/songwriter, Bruce Delaplain, and the group, Rock Namasteady. Later she joined with Kevin Michael Leis with whom she co-produced the album, Affinity.

Briggs enjoys “noodling” on the piano which is where she often gets song ideas and also playing both soprano and baritone ukuleles.

This new venture, Rose and the Thorn, is an opportunity to exercise her songwriting abilities, to sing lead, and co-create a unique style of music that tells the stories of our lives.
